Privacy Policy
When you use human-math.com - to read or listen to the book, to make a purchase, or to subscribe to updates - you trust us with some personal information. This page is the plain-language version of what we do with it.
What we collect
When you create an account
Your email address and the name you choose to provide. If you sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook, those providers share basic profile information with us - typically an email and a display name only. We never receive your contact list, photos, or anything beyond what you see at the consent screen.
When you make a purchase
Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see your full card number. Stripe shares with us the country of the card, the last four digits, the amount paid, and a confirmation that the charge succeeded.
When you read or listen
Your position in each chapter, your highlights and notes, your bookmarks, and your reading preferences (theme, font size, playback speed, sync behavior). This data syncs across your devices when you're signed in.
When you subscribe to updates
Just your email address.
Automatically
Standard server logs: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, timestamps. We use Vercel for hosting; their analytics give us aggregate, anonymous traffic patterns. No individual-user tracking, no tracking across other sites.
How we use it
- To deliver the audiobook and e-book to you.
- To remember where you are in the book and sync across devices.
- To send you receipts and the occasional product update.
- To respond to your questions.
- To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns.
We do not sell your data. We do not show third-party advertising. We have no advertising business.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third-party services to run the site. Each receives only the data necessary to do its job:
- Clerk — authentication; receives your email and sign-up info.
- Stripe — payments; receives card and billing details.
- Neon — database; stores reading data, encrypted at rest.
- Tigris — audio storage; receives no personal data, just file requests.
- Resend — email delivery; receives your address when we send you a receipt or update.
- Vercel — hosting and edge network; handles all traffic.
We share your data with nobody else, except when required by law, when needed to investigate fraud, or with your explicit consent.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies for two things:
- Authentication — to keep you signed in across visits (set by Clerk).
- Functional state — your preferred theme, font size, and reading position. Most of these are stored locally in your browser and never transmitted.
We do not use tracking cookies for advertising. We do not load Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar third-party trackers.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export your reading data — highlights, notes, bookmarks, and progress — in a portable JSON format.
Email will@mynd.community and we will act on any of these within 30 days.
Under GDPR (Europe), CCPA (California), and analogous laws elsewhere, you have additional specific rights. We honor those for any user, anywhere.
Data retention
We keep your account and reading data for as long as you have an account. After you delete your account, we keep purchase records for seven years to meet tax-reporting obligations and delete everything else within 30 days.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our database and storage providers. Passwords are hashed by Clerk and never visible to us.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours of becoming aware.
Children
Human Math is written for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
International users
We are based in the United States. If you use the site from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the site, you consent to that transfer.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (if you have an account) and post a notice on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always be current.
