Terms of Service
By using human-math.com or purchasing access to the book, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain language because lawyer-speak helps no one - but they're still the binding agreement between you and Human Math.
1. What you're getting
When you purchase Human Math (audiobook, e-book, or bundle), you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to read or listen to the book on any device you own, for personal use, for as long as the site continues to operate.
You do not own the underlying book content. You do own your account and any annotations you create within it.
2. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your password secure. We never ask for your password in email or chat - anyone who does is impersonating us.
You may not share your account with other people. One account, one human.
If your account is compromised, email will@mynd.community and we'll help you recover it.
3. Payment and refunds
Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude any taxes that may apply where you live. Payment is one-time; there is no recurring subscription.
We offer a 30-day refund on any purchase, no questions asked. Email will@mynd.community with your purchase confirmation and we'll process it within 7 business days. After a refund, your access to the corresponding content is revoked.
4. What you may do
- Read the book. Listen to the audiobook.
- Highlight, annotate, and bookmark to your heart's content.
- Share specific passages on social media using the reader's built-in quote-card tool. We encourage this — attribution is automatic.
- Discuss the book with anyone, in any forum.
- Install the site as a PWA on any number of your own devices.
5. What you may not do
- Share your account credentials.
- Redistribute, sell, sublicense, or republish the book content.
- Scrape, download, or extract the audiobook files or HTML for redistribution outside the site.
- Use automated systems to access the site at a volume that affects other users.
- Reverse-engineer the application to circumvent payment or access controls.
- Use the content to train machine-learning models without prior written permission.
6. Who owns what
The book content — text, audio narration, illustrations, and the five-dial framework as expressed in the book — is copyright © William Lancaster, all rights reserved.
The site code is proprietary. "Human Math" and the dial mark are trademarks of William Lancaster.
Your annotations, highlights, notes, and bookmarks remain yours. We will never use them for marketing, sell them, or share them.
7. User-generated content
If you send us feedback, share a quote-card you've generated, or otherwise send us content, you grant us a non-exclusive right to use that content in connection with operating and promoting the site. We won't use your private notes or annotations without permission.
8. The book is the author's opinion
Human Math distills five psychological frameworks for self-understanding. It is not therapy, not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for any of those. If you're in crisis, please speak with a licensed mental-health professional. In the US, you can reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
9. Disclaimer
The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available." We do our best to keep things running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, perfect data, or that the site will fit your specific purposes. Audio streaming depends on your network. Highlights and bookmarks sync best-effort.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the site is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, or fifty US dollars, whichever is greater.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, even if we have been advised of the possibility.
11. Termination
You can cancel your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. If we terminate for a non-severe violation, we'll refund any unused purchases. If the violation is severe (account sharing at scale, redistribution, fraud), refunds will not be issued.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that materially affects your rights, we'll notify you by email — if you have an account — at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after the change means you agree to the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts located in California, unless you live in a jurisdiction whose consumer-protection laws grant you different non-waivable rights.
